# Geist fonts for the Octopus brand kit

Downloaded and verified on **2026-09-11** from [Vercel's official Geist repository](https://github.com/vercel/geist-font), [release v1.7.2](https://github.com/vercel/geist-font/releases/tag/v1.7.2) (published 2026-06-01). These are unmodified upstream **static** fonts. TTF files suit desktop design/raster export; WOFF2 files suit local browser previews. No font installation or external font service is required.

The embedded TTF version strings are 1.800 for Sans and 1.700 for Mono; these are distinct from the repository release tag v1.7.2.

Use the separate bold file for headings instead of synthesizing a bold regular face. Keep font-style normal for these assets; italics are not included.

Both [OFL.txt](OFL.txt) and [LICENSE.txt](LICENSE.txt) are the actual, unchanged upstream files from this same revision. Both contain **SIL Open Font License 1.1**; they preserve the repository's respective Geist Project Authors and Vercel/basement.studio copyright notices.

The OFL permits use, embedding and redistribution, including commercial projects, subject to its conditions. Keep the copyright/license files with any redistributed font files. Do not sell the fonts on their own. The license does not require artwork produced with the fonts to use the OFL. Font availability is not Vercel endorsement of Octopus.

## Exact provenance and integrity

Every downloaded file was matched to its Git blob hash in the pinned upstream tree before saving. TTF family/style and weight tables and WOFF2 headers/lengths were checked. These SHA-256 values identify the local bytes; no conversion, subsetting or renaming was performed.
